We created the World Parkinson Congress Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Parkinson Community before the Fourth World Parkinson Congress in Portland to honor three people whose work inspires more community building and expands collaboration on basic and clinical research, medical practices, care partner initiatives, and advocates change that impacts the Parkinson community.

For the Fifth World Parkinson Congress we will once again honor three people. Here are the WPC Awards open for nomination:

The WPC Robin A. Elliott Award was created to honor the service of Robin A. Elliott who helped launch the World Parkinson Congresses in 2004. Robin’s 20 years of service to the community, as the head of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, and his commitment to supporting young researchers, clinicians, and people with Parkinson’s was evident in every decision he made. This award honors his work to better the lives of people with PD and to support the researchers who will lead us to a cure. We are looking for candidates who are making a difference outside of the clinical space through education, creativity, and/or advocacy.

The WPC Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Parkinson Community was created to honor those who whose efforts best embody the goals of the World Parkinson Congress: to inspire more community building, expand collaboration on basic and clinical research, medical practices, care partner initiatives, and advocacy that impact the Parkinson community.

We are currently accepting nominations from the Parkinson's community. The final day to nominate someone is February 15, 2019. If you know someone that deserves to be honored, nominate them today!
